01 Aug Our Summer Care Home Activities at Ascot Residential Homes
We’ve been enjoying a wonderfully busy summer, with a wide range of care home activities in Ascot for residents at St Christopher’s and St David’s.
From local outings and swimming to music, themed days and time in our gardens, there has been plenty to enjoy.
Summer outings
Our residents have made the most of the warmer weather with trips to the beach, visits to local parks and regular swimming sessions at Bracknell Leisure Centre.
We have also enjoyed several local outings, including feeding the ducks at Mill Pond, visiting the car boot sale at Moss End and exploring the History on Wheels Museum in Eton Wick.
These trips provide a lovely change of scenery and give residents the opportunity to enjoy new places, familiar activities and time together.
Enjoying our grounds
Closer to home, residents have been making the most of our lovely grounds and outdoor spaces.
The new patio at St Christopher’s has quickly become a much-loved part of daily life. Thank you to everyone who shared ideas for the colours, plants and scents. The patio is now being used for games, sing-alongs, activities and visits from family and friends. Lavender from the garden was also used to make a beautiful wreath, which is now hanging on the door.
We have also been enjoying the summer evenings eating al fresco with the occasional glass of wine and cheese. Residents at St David’s have also been planting pots for the courtyard, adding even more colour to the garden.
Our Summer Festival
One of the highlights of the summer was our Summer Festival on 4 July.
We enjoyed seven different acts throughout the day, including music, Irish dancers, choirs and bands. The weather was perfect and there was a lovely atmosphere as residents, families, visitors and members of our team enjoyed the entertainment together.
Music, sport and themed activities
There has been plenty of other entertainment too, including our silent disco and a variety of themed days.
We have cheered on the teams during the World Cup, enjoyed watching Wimbledon and joined in with the excitement of Royal Ascot, including waving as the Royal Procession passed through Windsor Great Park.
Whether it is a larger event, an outing, a creative activity or a quieter afternoon in the garden, we aim to offer a varied programme that residents can enjoy in their own way.
Thank you to our wonderful residents, families, visitors and team for helping to make this summer so enjoyable with our various care home activities in Ascot. If you’d like to find out more about us, please do get in touch.
