A Summer of Fun at our Care Homes in Ascot

Summer is always a special time here at Ascot Residential Homes, and this year has been no exception. Our residents have enjoyed a wide range of activities both within our care homes in Ascot and further afield. From day trips and creative pastimes to making the most of our beautiful grounds, it has been a season filled with variety, enjoyment and shared experiences.

Days Out and Adventures

Our residents have enjoyed a variety of trips this summer. We were delighted to wave at the Royals during Royal Ascot and also enjoyed visits to Bird World, Trilakes to see the llamas and a local cat café. Time outdoors has been well spent too, with trips to nearby parks and local lakes where feeding the ducks remains a firm favourite activity.

Perhaps one of the biggest highlights was our seaside trip to Avon Beach, where everyone tucked into traditional fish and chips before dipping their toes in the sea. Other outings included a peaceful boat ride along the River Thames, a sunny stroll through Lily Hill Park, fruit picking and a fun day at Jake’s Farm. We also enjoyed a visit to Great Hollands Bowls Club, with a friendly game of bowling followed by a delicious afternoon tea.

Back at our homes, the fun hasn’t stopped. Rainy days have been the perfect excuse to get creative—residents have enjoyed pizza making, knitting, flower arranging, painting, and all sorts of crafts. Our cowboy-themed day was a real treat, complete with laughter, music and plenty of themed fun.

We’ve also been nurturing our green fingers this summer. Residents grew bright, cheerful sunflowers, later picking and arranging them to brighten up our homes.

Making the Most of Our Grounds

Of course, we’ve also taken full advantage of our beautiful grounds, which come into their own in the warmer months. From leisurely picnics on sunny afternoons to the excitement of an outdoor cinema, the gardens have been a hub of activity and relaxation alike.

It’s been wonderful to see our residents enjoying such a wide variety of experiences this summer, whatever the weather conditions. This summer we were also delighted to be recognised as a Top Ten Small Care Provider in the UK by Lottie. You can read all about this exciting news in our July blog. It really has been a summer to remember.
